"The Netanyahu government is determined to thwart any chance of resuming direct negotiations,"

Is this what the pa wants also? If it is not then why don't they ensure that talks DO NOT fail.

Ultimately the pa loses if the talks fail. Does the pa not believe that talks are in their interest?

The pa better come up with something.

Surely they aren't going to sit on their hands waiting for a "handout" from the US, ever dependent.

If that is the case they better be on notice that the power shift in American politics in just 17 days is going to be much more pragmatic and considerably less sympathetic to the incessant tantrums of abbas and the pa.

Better Careful

The right-wing in Israel likes their war and oppression and colonialism and jingoism just fine. There is no difference in their ideology than that of the right-wing in the USA or Iran, or any other nation. (The right-wing in Iran is a bit better-behaved than in the US or Israel at this point, but that's a small thing.)

Netanyahu will want his war and economic expansion and oppression. His power and politics demand it.
